Previously, the procedure was planned to be completed in 2021.

The Ministry of Digital Development has prepared a draft  for the presidential decree on the postponing of migration of the IT infrastructure to Russian equipment and software from 2021 to 2025-2024. The main reason is the lack of technology. This was reported by "Vedomosti".

As IT community members believe, the postponing will significantly reduce financial risks and provide an opportunity to fix multiple significant weaknesses. in particular, phasing out of some foreign types of software is impossible due to the lack of domestic analogues. It will take a lot of time to develop identical critical information infrastructure. One of the most complex process is migration of automated control systems for technological processes in the energy, metallurgy, and nuclear industries.

Roman Ostapchuk, Deputy CEO of technology development of STEP LOGIC, told Delovoe.TV that the migration was logically postponed to a later date.

«When we are talking about critical infrastructure, it is vital to ensure high-quality and reliable operation of the elements of its system. At the moment, there are still a lot of issues with Russian hardware and software», - he said.

The expert also endorsed the opinion that postponement will allow Russian manufacturers to reach the level objectively necessary to solve the assigned tasks.

It is also necessary to take into consideration difficult economic situation in the near future and short-term forecasts.

«The postponement will allow companies to effectively align import substitution processes of their critical IT systems with the natural equipment replacement cycle», - says Roman Ostapchuk, Deputy CEO of technology development of STEP LOGIC.
